Popcorn and Candy Floss sales! :D

HELLO! :D

In our attempt to raise funds, we also sold popcorn and candy floss to the school population! :D
edward's art!

Our first day selling, unfortunately, did not begin with as much aplomb as we expected. Those in the first shift arrived bright and early, and proceeded to wait for the supplies to arrive....

... only to end their shift with no more popcorn and candy floss than they started out with.

We waited and waited and waited only to find out that our delivery man got into an ACCIDENT. D:! (but apparently he was okay in the end :D )

At the end a huge bunch of us sat by the driveway, waiting like hobos erm, very patient people, for the delivery truck to arrive until the bell rang signaling the beginning of lessons.
Waiting like retards by the sidewalk! :)

It was quite fun, considering we told curious students that the whole ODAC was subjected to CWO, of which most of them believed because Mr. Seet was looming behind all of us. :D

Armed with plastic containers of popcorn and candy floss, and a shield made out of cardboard, we started off our journey to sell as much popcorn and candy floss as possible.

our booth! <3

Much begging, wheedling and pleading ensued for the remainder of the day; much to the horror of conscience-stricken Victorians who were sorry to part with their pocket money for the week....
"Buy some popcorn, please!" :(

Nonetheless, it was really heartening to see people step up to the booth and donating and asking more about Ladakh and how they could help.... :)

BUT THEN! We then were faced with our second problem, with so many people being coerced into buying popcorn and candy floss (for the sake of Ladakh!), it was unlikely that they would again buy the same products with the pretense of donation, consequently causing sales to dwindle the following week. Hence, we decided to add a new product, of which we believed would help boost sales....

Potato wheelies! :D (which was sold out first, by the way)

We also had to take into consideration that there were almost no J2s around to patronise our stores. So we had to adopt a different approach, of which we prioritized covering our cost price.

So our prices went from.....

$2.50 >> $2.00 >> $1.50 >> $1.00 >> ~$0.30!!!! (we just sold 3 for $1)
(our buyers must have felt so cheated. D: )

counting the money!
Nonetheless, we still managed to earn profits! As a whole, it was indeed a fun and enriching experience as we tried our best to raise as much as we could, knowing that all our efforts would go to helping a Ladakhi family. :)
popcorn, cotton candy or me? :)
